How to play Huskar
Huskar is a ranged Strength hero usually played mid, with safe-lane carry as the alternative. He fights with his health bar: Burning Spear costs health and burns enemies over time, Berserker's Blood gives attack speed, regeneration and magic resistance as his health falls, and Life Break jumps to a target and takes a share of both heroes' health. He wants to fight early and end before the late game, and he is at his best against magic damage and weakest against pure damage, percentage damage and heal reduction.
- Stack Burning Spear on the enemy mid from level one. The burns stack, so several hits in a row force the enemy out of lane.
- Buy regeneration before damage. Health is your resource for spears and Inner Fire, and regen keeps the harassment going.
- From level six, Life Break onto a half-health enemy and keep attacking with spears; that usually finishes the kill.
- In fights, jump the enemy carry or the hero dealing the most damage. Berserker's Blood rewards staying low, so retreat when the enemy has pure damage or heal reduction ready, not the moment you take damage.
- Armlet of Mordiggian is the classic first core. The item tables on this page show what players buy next on Huskar and which items win.
- Armlet adds health when you switch it on. Turning it on when you are about to die gives a burst of health; practise the toggle while Life Break is in the air.
- Inner Fire knocks back and disarms nearby enemies. Save it for a melee carry that reaches you or to interrupt a channel.
- Autocast spears for harassment, but turn it off when you only want last hits and do not want to pay health.

Common mistakes
- Spamming spears at full health against a hero who can punish it. Your health is a resource, not a free cost.
- Picking Huskar into Ancient Apparition, heal reduction or heavy pure damage. Read the enemy draft first.
- Casting Inner Fire at full health in lane when the kill is not certain.
Huskar's abilities explained
Blood Magic Innate · Passive
Huskar does not have mana. Mana costs of items are converted into health costs. Huskar's Health Costs are Magical Damage and can be reduced by Magic Resist.
Inner Fire No target · Magical damage
In a fiery rage, knocks all nearby enemies away from you to a fixed distance, dealing damage and silencing them.
Burning Spear Unit target · Magical damage
Huskar sets his spears aflame, dealing damage over time with his regular attack. Multiple attacks will stack additional damage. Each attack drains some of Huskar's health.
Berserker's Blood Passive
Huskar's injuries feed his power, giving increased attack speed, magic resistance and health regen based on missing health. Health regen is a percentage of your strength.
Life Break Ultimate · Unit target · Magical damage
Huskar draws upon his health to break an enemy's life, leaping at a target to shatter a percentage of that hero's current health and slow both their movement and attack speed. While leaping, Huskar is Debuff Immune with 60% magic resistance. DISPEL TYPE: Basic Dispel
Frequently asked questions
What position does Huskar play?
Mostly mid, because the solo lane gives him levels for Life Break and Berserker's Blood and the spears win most matchups. He can also play safe-lane carry. The numbers on this page cover all ranked games of the hero.
Is Huskar good for beginners?
He is easy to play but easy to counter. The spears and jumps are simple; the skill is reading the enemy team, because Ancient Apparition, Spirit Vessel or heavy pure damage make him much weaker.
How do you use Life Break?
It is a gap closer and a nuke in one: Huskar jumps to the target, pays a share of his own health, removes a share of the target's health and slows them. Use it on the enemy whose death wins the fight, then follow with spears and attacks.
Which items are bought on Huskar?
See the item tables on this page: they list purchase rate and win rate per item from our own match data. Armlet of Mordiggian is the usual first core.
Who counters Huskar?
Heal reduction, pure damage and percentage damage. The matchup tables on this page list his worst opponents from ranked matches.
